Full Time RN (Evenings/Nights)

 Are you searching for a unique opportunity to provide holistic care to patients and their families in a variety of settings and situations? CareFirst is seeking to hire a compassionate and motivated professional registered nurse for a full time position as on call nurse (evenings/nights).  You will be required to provide phone support and onsite care for terminally ill patients and their families in Steuben, Schuyler and Chemung counties.

  • Make accurate nursing assessments and think critically as no situation or patient’s needs are alike
  • Be comfortable with addressing end of life issues and empowering families and patients to set appropriate goals
  • Be flexible and able to prioritize as you will be required to triage phone calls and plan/ provide care as appropriate.
  • Make visits to patient homes, nursing homes and hospitals in order to address end of life concerns , collaborate with other health care professionals and provide psychological and physical support to family members and patients
  • Ensure continuity of care by effectively working with all members of CareFirst interdisciplinary team
  • Make appropriate recommendations for management of end of life symptoms and issues
  • Display compassion and professionalism toward families at patient’s time of death



Possession of a valid and current NY State professional Registered Nurse’s license.  Minimum of 2 years of home care and/or acute care experience as a professional nurse within the last 10 years.  Current physical assessment skills. Skilled in use of nursing process.Computer Skills, Excellent communication skills, Problem solving skills and ability to multi task
